Batman Arkham City takes place following the events of 2009’s Batman Arkham Asylum in which the Joker, voiced by Mark Hamill, took a potentially lethal dose of the chemical Titan, an altered form of the character Bane’s super steroid. The game starts off with Batman going into Arkham City, which is a combination of Arkham Asylum and Blackgate prison placed in Gotham City’s walled off slums area. His goal at first is to save Catwoman from the planned execution of Twoface. Once inside, the fun really begins as Batman begins to find out whats really happening within the walls of the prison city.
Arkham City will have you exploring different parts of what is my favorite version of the world of Batman since Batman The Animated Series. The gameplay is incredibly smooth as you soar over and through the city encountering many of Batman’s famous foes and friends. The fighting is as good as it gets, which is why several other games have attempted to adapt the free flow fighting style since. You are able to unleash huge combos on large groups of enemies as Batman flows seamlessly between combatants in a very cinematic way.
You may have noticed that I specifically called out the collectors edition of this game. That is because in addition to a playable Catwoman storyline, it comes with a super cool Batman statue. The statue is very high quality, measures about 5 inches tall, and will look great in you Gamer Cave.
