It has been more than 35 years since Stephen King introduced us to young Danny Torrance in The Shining. Doctor Sleep tells the story of an adult Dan Torrance, what he went through in the years following the winter at the Overlook Hotel as well as how he dealt with that terrible winter, all leading up to him in his 40’s working at a hospice in a small New Hampshire town.
As we already know from Dick Hallorann, the chef that helped Danny in The Shining, there are other people in the world than Danny with the same powers as Danny. In Doctor Sleep Dan will have to help a young girl named Abra Stone come to terms with her powers and keep her safe from a whole new type of evil that seeks out those with the ability to shine.
Stephen King has been writing some of his best stuff recently with such works as Under The Dome, The Wind Through The Keyhole, and 11/22/63. Doctor Sleep is no exception… and is the perfect follow up to The Shinning. If you are in the moos for a good scare, this is a must read.
